Oscarshall Slott

View Photos

Once the pleasure palace of a Norwegian King, now a lovely summertime attraction.

The Oscarshall Slott was built as a pleasure palace for King Oscar II in 1852. Overlooking the shores of the Oslofjord, it was a popular party venue for the Bernadotte dynasty as well as a public showroom for period art and antiquities up until 1905. The restored structure is now open to the public only in the summer months, and the castle garden -- with its numerous pavilions and fountains -- is a lovely place to relax.
